SEC CHAMPS!!!!

WE WONNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

We beat UGA 1-0 for the SEC Champ!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!
I hope you guys got to watch it on tv. We have obviously had a very tough year, and for our girls to go to the tournament, work their butts off, silent their critics and bring home a trophy is such a rewarding feeling!
A big shout out to Ange also...this trophy kinda personifies her personality-she has kept this team positive in bad times, kept them working when they wanted to quit, and kept believing in them when they didnt know how to believe in themselves. What a well-deserved championship for her and this team!!

We find out tomorrow where we will go for ncaa tourney and who we will play....of course, i'll let you know :)

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :)

We just beat LSU in a double-overtime, pk, nailbiter game.
We scored in the first half. LSU got one in the 2nd. Ended regulation 1-1. Dominated OT, but couldnt find the back of the net. Finished OT still tied, 1-1.
PK's we won 4-2. Our keeper, Jaimel, had 2 BIG TIME saves of the penalty kicks!!

Georgia and Florida play now. We will play the winner of that game for the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP on Sunday! It will be on TV. I will update again when i know, time, channel and opponent!!

I AM SOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sec tourney!

Hey Guys-

Quick update here.

The girls leave today for Orange Beach, Alabama and the SEC tourney! The first game is Wed at 2:30 against Auburn. Last weekend, we lost to Auburn in overtime, so this is going to be a fun rematch for us!!

Please call/text/email any of our current players to show them that we support them and are thinking about them. Its been a hard season, with a lot of rough patches. We have learned a ton about character and dealing with adversity. You can always turn negative things into learning situations, and thats what we've been doing. We've talked alot this year about the tradition at TN and teams/players of the past. I know it would mean alot to them to hear from you all and to know that you still support them!!

Thanks for being the best alums EVER!!!

FALL DOWN 7 TIMES, STAND UP 8!

QUESTION FOR MOMS!

Any of you moms out there have any suggestions for getting baby to drink formula/milk?
Riley has been strictly breastfed up till this point, does not take a bottle, and i'm weaning her to a cup. Which is great, she's fine with a cup, but just will not drink milk or formula. I have tried all kinds of tricks, but she just has no time for it.
any advice from anyone??

she's 11 months this weekend!
so crazy how fast time flies!

COME SUPPORT YOUR TEAM!!!

AWESOME GAME LAST NIGHT!!
We beat kentucky 3-2.
We were up 1-0, kentucky went up 2-1, we scored 2 goals-the game winner by alissa vonderhaar w/ 5 mins left! it was alot of fun and a GREAT GAME!!!
Always a great test of character when you find yourself down with time running out!! We fought and came out on top, so now it is a HAPPY SATURDAY!!! :)

Tomorrow will be the toughest test yet. We play Vandy at 2. PLEASE COME OUT IF YOU ARE IN TOWN!!! Be loud!! Bring friends, family etc!!!! We need loud, enthusiastic fans!!!
Come support us if you can!!

Notice how quick the updates come when we're winning...ha!!

Rhian Wilkenson's official website

Rhi, Rhi-
Always a class act, eh!
http://www.rhianwilkinsonsoccer.com/

RHIAN'S SOCCER JOURNALS:
CONGRATULATIONS TO TENNESSEE'S KYLEE ROSSI 4th October 2008
While at the Universityof Tennessee, I managed to set a number of scoring records. Most of these have now fallen, and among the last to go has been the most career points for the Lady Vols. Congratulations to senior forward Kylee Rossi for scoring her eleventh goal of the season and taking the new record to 88 career points.
The record was set as the University of Tennessee women's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over No. 15 LSU on Friday night. It was importantly, the The Lady Vols first win of the Southeastern Conference season and notched their 12th win in the past 13 matches at Regal Stadium.
Rossi's goal came as she brought the ball down from the end line and lofted a shot past the goalkeeper from 15 yards on the right side of the box. The score gave the Orange and White a two-goal lead and made Rossi the new all-time leader in points at Tennessee.
Rossi, a Pennington, N.J., native, now boasts 88 career points on 37 goals and 15 assists to set the new record. Rossi is now Tennessee's all-time leader in five career categories - points (88), goals (37), shots (301), game winners (14) and golden goals (4). The two quick goals also broke an LSU record, becoming the two fastest goals against the Tigers in program history.
"It's definitely an honor to break the record," Rossi said. "I want to thank my teammates and my coaches for getting me to that level. Although it's a great honor, it doesn't mean anything right now because we've got to keep going and keep winning."
My congratulations to Kylee and to the Lady Vols soccer program.
hey Virgin Blogger...congrats! Awe...shucky shucky!

We played LSU and Arkansas-2 good teams. LSU was friday and we won 2-1, and Arkansas was Sunday and we won 2-0. We FINALLY started actually playing and HAVING FUN!!! It was so great to watch!!

WE NEED YOU!!!!

Hey Guys,
I realized that there have not been any post since the Alumni Weekend! It was an awesome weekend and a million thank yous go to Jen for all of her hard work and planning. It was a great weekend and I know that it was awesome for everyone to get a chance to catch up. For those of you that missed it I will say... YOU MISSED IT. The good news is that you will have another chance next year. We hope to have a bigger crowd each year as we people graduate and become a part of the OLD PEOPLE (read that ALUMNI)!!!!

I know that there was not a post on last weekends games. I will just say that the girls hit a bump in the road on their last road trip. They played South Carolina on Friday and lost 2-1 and then on Sunday they played Florida and lost 5-1. Now I remember this road trip as being one of the hardest trips and with the way that the SEC is growing and the level of play is getting more competitive these girls are really going to have to work hard every game and be ready to bring it each time they step on the field. With that being said I know that they need our support. We need to make our presence known to these girls and let them know that we are behind then 100%!!! It would be great if we can get BIG crowds this year to as many games as we can. This weekend they have two SEC games (and it is time to get down to business...):)

LSU @ Tennessee at 7:00om on Friday, Oct 3, 2008

Arkansas @ Tennessee at 1:00pm Sunday, Oct 5, 2008

Let's show our Alumni Spirit and help these girls out. I am sure that if you need tickets you can call the ticket office or one of the coaches and see if they can get you in. (I just made that last part up and have not spoken to the coaches so they may kill me for saying it but I just thought I would throw it out there!) :)

I hope that everyone is doing well and if you want to be added as an author just contact me and I will sign you up for this blog!!!!

Virgin blog user

Hey all!

This is officially my first time using a blog-hence the title- and I am so happy that it has to do with the Lady Vol family! So I thought I would go sort of big and include so pix from our last trip. Pepperdine was pretty nice, ocean in one pix if you look closely, and mountains in the other. Anyways, before tomorrow begins, I would like to personally thank Jen Grubb-Alumni Director, coordinator, and super mom for arranging everything! She has made my job much easier by organizing this whole weekend!! I just know that it will be a fun-thrilled, victorious, and exhausting weekend and again, thank you Jen. Also, thanks to everyone else who has helped Jen! Please take lots of pictures so I can make a mail out for all the little recruits!

Finally, don't forget your can foods so we can pack the house! Go Lady Vols!

Sept.8 update

Hey kids...

Another day, another update :)
i will try to keep these updates somewhat entertaining to read, so it keeps you coming back for more :)

So, we played West Virginia Friday night in front of close to 1,000 fans at our Regal Stadium. We, again, had chances in the first few minutes of the game, but for some reason, there is a force field that has been placed in front of the goal that we are attacking. We have tried to take it down, but have been unsuccesful so far. So if anyone knows anyone in the business of removing force fields, please let us know...we will pay major $$ to get ours removed :)
We lost 1-0.

Moving on to Sunday...Julie Edwards found a crack in the force field and we got one goal in. However, more great attemps were blocked by that darn thing. If we continue to hit on it long and hard enough, perhaps it will crack to the point of collapse. I guess if we cant find anyone to remove it, we'll have to continue to crack it till it falls :) But, the one goal was good enough for the win against a very good and undefeated Illinois team.

The girls are off today, and will practice tomorrow afternoon and then wed morning before heading out to sunny california!! The'll be going to Pepperdine and Univ Cal at Santa Barbara. Should be an awesome trip. unfortunately, my little rugrat prohibits me from goign with them ;) , but I will update next week with what I am told of how they did!

If you happen to find yourself in cali this weekend, paint your chest, take your bongo drums, and be loud and proud :)

Please buy your fball tix if you have not already done so...time is running out and tix are few, but there are a handful left!!

Have a great day guys!!!

UPDATE!!

HEY EVERYONE!!

Sorry i havent updated this yet. I was having serious issues trying to figure out how to do it. Luckily, Cameron helped me today and now I think i've got it down :)

So, I am going to try to update at the begining of every week with what went on the previous weekend. (notice i said TRY...you know how life happens, so it may not be every monday, but that is my goal!!)

This past weekend the girls went down to Texas. They played Indiana Friday night and UNC on Sunday. The Indiana game was not good...so we wont talk too much about that :) Indiana scored on a PK and then in the last minute of the game. It was a loss, but it was also a lesson that I think our girls learned. It doesnt matter your talent level, if you dont leave your heart on the field EVERY TIME, you're not going to be succesful.

Moving on to Sundays game, they lost to UNC 1-0, but a MUCH BETTER performance!! I didnt travel this weekend with the team, but was told the team looked completely different on Sunday than it did Friday night. They battled with UNC the entire 90, and had several great scoring opportunities. The game went back and forth, but UNC was able to capitalize on an opportunity and put the game away.

While they experienced two losses, the emotion and feeling at the end of each one of those games was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!! There is a different feeling when you give your all versus when you only give part of yourself. Sunday, these girls gave their all, and you cant ask for more than that!

Hopefully they have learned that it is worth it to lay it all on the field. Kinda like when you run fitness and you are running so hard and working so hard that you start to pee on yourself at about the 9th 120. but you know you have to keep going, because to work that hard and then stop would just keep you awake all night w/ bitter regret and disappointment. So you pee yourself, finish the 1oth and though you smell, you feel an incredible sense of accomplishment...kinda like that :)
ha!

Anyway...i have to feed my husband now, because we all know that husbands cant feed themselves..haha--I KID, I KID :) but, we play west virginia this Friday night at 8 and then Washington State Sunday at 2. So if you are in town and can come, PLEASE COME SUPPORT US!!! We need all the support we can get. Friday night is going to be a BATTLE!!!

Hope you all have had a great week. Let me know if you'll be at the game this weekend...I'd love to see you!!

Take care, and I'll be baaaaaacccckkkkk..................................

:)jen

Just a friendly reminder...

*******this site if for UT Soccer and Family only…any political or opinion stuff needs to be kept on our own personal blogs and not the UT Soccer blog…this is not a forum for people to write whatever they want about anything that they want, but rather, it’s simply a way for us to all stay connected with each other. Welcome Alumni

Hi guys! Jen and I have created this blog as a way for all of us to keep up with each other. The plan is to allow all of you to be able to post on this site with stories, pictures and videos so that we can keep in touch better. This will also be a good way to keep up with what is going on in the Lady Vol Soccer world. I will ask that when you do post that we play nice. I know that we were not all good at "playing nice" the on the field but we want this to be a way to share our lives and not to create drama. I know that sounds totally silly but I just wanted to put it out there. In order for you to be able to post on this site I will have to approve you to be an author. The screening is really tough. Tougher than running pre-season fitness tests. Just kidding. You will need to send an email requesting to be added. I know that a bunch of you may request in the next few weeks so we will try our best to get you added as quickly as possible. I will send you an email when you have been added to the list and then you can go on to the site and post. If you have never used blogger before it is really easy and there are links that say "help" that you can click on and will answer most of your questions. Now, I am not a pro at this but I may be able to help me if you email me your questions. You will need to sign up for a google account and it will prompt you to do this when you try to sign on. It is free and really easy. I would also like to set up links to your blogs that may already be set up. If you could send me the link to your blog via email I will add that as well. Please do not assume that I have your link. Although I may be a frequent stalker of your blog I will not link you from this website until I have your approval. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! I hope that this works and that we all have fun with it! I also hope to see all of you at the upcoming ALUMNI WEEKEND! It sounds like it is going to be a blast!!!!
