WE NEED YOU!!!!

Hey Guys,
I realized that there have not been any post since the Alumni Weekend! It was an awesome weekend and a million thank yous go to Jen for all of her hard work and planning. It was a great weekend and I know that it was awesome for everyone to get a chance to catch up. For those of you that missed it I will say... YOU MISSED IT. The good news is that you will have another chance next year. We hope to have a bigger crowd each year as we people graduate and become a part of the OLD PEOPLE (read that ALUMNI)!!!!

I know that there was not a post on last weekends games. I will just say that the girls hit a bump in the road on their last road trip. They played South Carolina on Friday and lost 2-1 and then on Sunday they played Florida and lost 5-1. Now I remember this road trip as being one of the hardest trips and with the way that the SEC is growing and the level of play is getting more competitive these girls are really going to have to work hard every game and be ready to bring it each time they step on the field. With that being said I know that they need our support. We need to make our presence known to these girls and let them know that we are behind then 100%!!! It would be great if we can get BIG crowds this year to as many games as we can. This weekend they have two SEC games (and it is time to get down to business...):)

LSU @ Tennessee at 7:00om on Friday, Oct 3, 2008

Arkansas @ Tennessee at 1:00pm Sunday, Oct 5, 2008

Let's show our Alumni Spirit and help these girls out. I am sure that if you need tickets you can call the ticket office or one of the coaches and see if they can get you in. (I just made that last part up and have not spoken to the coaches so they may kill me for saying it but I just thought I would throw it out there!) :)

I hope that everyone is doing well and if you want to be added as an author just contact me and I will sign you up for this blog!!!!

Virgin blog user

Hey all!

This is officially my first time using a blog-hence the title- and I am so happy that it has to do with the Lady Vol family! So I thought I would go sort of big and include so pix from our last trip. Pepperdine was pretty nice, ocean in one pix if you look closely, and mountains in the other. Anyways, before tomorrow begins, I would like to personally thank Jen Grubb-Alumni Director, coordinator, and super mom for arranging everything! She has made my job much easier by organizing this whole weekend!! I just know that it will be a fun-thrilled, victorious, and exhausting weekend and again, thank you Jen. Also, thanks to everyone else who has helped Jen! Please take lots of pictures so I can make a mail out for all the little recruits!

Finally, don't forget your can foods so we can pack the house! Go Lady Vols!

Knoxville Race

Hey Guys,
Another event that will allow some of us to get together for a fun run!!!! I emailed some information about a local race that is being held in Knoxville. It is the CrossKnox Race that is a 15K or 9.3 miles. It is so much fun and the whole race is on the Knoxville Greenways. The race date has moved and I wanted to let everyone know about it. It will now be held on November 22, 2008. I would love to get a team together for this event!!! Maybe we could have t-shirts made and all that jazz. Let me know if you are interested, I know some of you were before. I will be at Alumni Weekend so if you have ideas or would like more information let me know!!! Can't wait to see all of you in a few weeks!!!!

Sept.8 update

Hey kids...

Another day, another update :)
i will try to keep these updates somewhat entertaining to read, so it keeps you coming back for more :)

So, we played West Virginia Friday night in front of close to 1,000 fans at our Regal Stadium. We, again, had chances in the first few minutes of the game, but for some reason, there is a force field that has been placed in front of the goal that we are attacking. We have tried to take it down, but have been unsuccesful so far. So if anyone knows anyone in the business of removing force fields, please let us know...we will pay major $$ to get ours removed :)
We lost 1-0.

Moving on to Sunday...Julie Edwards found a crack in the force field and we got one goal in. However, more great attemps were blocked by that darn thing. If we continue to hit on it long and hard enough, perhaps it will crack to the point of collapse. I guess if we cant find anyone to remove it, we'll have to continue to crack it till it falls :) But, the one goal was good enough for the win against a very good and undefeated Illinois team.

The girls are off today, and will practice tomorrow afternoon and then wed morning before heading out to sunny california!! The'll be going to Pepperdine and Univ Cal at Santa Barbara. Should be an awesome trip. unfortunately, my little rugrat prohibits me from goign with them ;) , but I will update next week with what I am told of how they did!

If you happen to find yourself in cali this weekend, paint your chest, take your bongo drums, and be loud and proud :)

Please buy your fball tix if you have not already done so...time is running out and tix are few, but there are a handful left!!

Have a great day guys!!!

UPDATE!!

HEY EVERYONE!!

Sorry i havent updated this yet. I was having serious issues trying to figure out how to do it. Luckily, Cameron helped me today and now I think i've got it down :)

So, I am going to try to update at the begining of every week with what went on the previous weekend. (notice i said TRY...you know how life happens, so it may not be every monday, but that is my goal!!)

This past weekend the girls went down to Texas. They played Indiana Friday night and UNC on Sunday. The Indiana game was not good...so we wont talk too much about that :) Indiana scored on a PK and then in the last minute of the game. It was a loss, but it was also a lesson that I think our girls learned. It doesnt matter your talent level, if you dont leave your heart on the field EVERY TIME, you're not going to be succesful.

Moving on to Sundays game, they lost to UNC 1-0, but a MUCH BETTER performance!! I didnt travel this weekend with the team, but was told the team looked completely different on Sunday than it did Friday night. They battled with UNC the entire 90, and had several great scoring opportunities. The game went back and forth, but UNC was able to capitalize on an opportunity and put the game away.

While they experienced two losses, the emotion and feeling at the end of each one of those games was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!! There is a different feeling when you give your all versus when you only give part of yourself. Sunday, these girls gave their all, and you cant ask for more than that!

Hopefully they have learned that it is worth it to lay it all on the field. Kinda like when you run fitness and you are running so hard and working so hard that you start to pee on yourself at about the 9th 120. but you know you have to keep going, because to work that hard and then stop would just keep you awake all night w/ bitter regret and disappointment. So you pee yourself, finish the 1oth and though you smell, you feel an incredible sense of accomplishment...kinda like that :)
ha!

Anyway...i have to feed my husband now, because we all know that husbands cant feed themselves..haha--I KID, I KID :) but, we play west virginia this Friday night at 8 and then Washington State Sunday at 2. So if you are in town and can come, PLEASE COME SUPPORT US!!! We need all the support we can get. Friday night is going to be a BATTLE!!!

Hope you all have had a great week. Let me know if you'll be at the game this weekend...I'd love to see you!!

Take care, and I'll be baaaaaacccckkkkk..................................

:)jen
